Agenda

Proposed agenda from APA below (copied from the GitHub issue requesting the meeting, with the addition of one late-breaking extra one, on sync media). We are very keen to hear if CSS has specific agenda for us, too).

  • Semantic selectors - i.e. giving devs the ability to select 'headings' or 'buttons' - this has been discussed before, but recently it occurred to us that it could be used to make user style sheets more robust and powerful.
  • We'd love to learn more about the work on the CSS-AAM. We also wonder: how would it be possible for devs to override mappings, given that they can't modify pseudos?
  • Some concerns we have around proposals that seem to assign semantic roles to elements via CSS (as opposed to selecting for them).
  • How to make the semantic implications of CSS (from inert to other aspects) visible to developers - especially developers who aren't aware of the need for correct semantics?
  • General updates on the text-fitting/-sizing proposals (we could drop this if there aren't outstanding questions by this time).
  • How to raise awareness (and how APA might be able to help) amongst developers - and the frameworks they use - around features such as text fitting/sizing features.
  • Flagging up the increased interest in sync media (Accessible Synchronized Multimedia for Publishing Community Group) and related use cases APA sees.
